Hi, Bob Yeager here. I own a 1962 Cessna 182E with Monarch 60 gallon fiberglass main tanks and 35 gallon auxiliary tanks. I bought the aircraft in 2018 and the right transfer pump would not run. The pump ran when direct power was applied to the pump. The previous owner had tried a replacement pressure switch which did not cure the issue either. When I dug into repairing this control system, the previous owner stated that the green light (fuel transferring) began staying on less and less. He would have to re-press the button over and over until finally, it stopped working all together. I called Monarch and found out they had a schematic, but provided no support, and could not identify any repair shops.
A pilot friend (retired electronics tech) and I (mechanical eng) set out to reverse engineer the control boards and panel switch unit to facilitate repairs. My control board was successfully repaired and is now working well.
Now that we have completed the back engineering we are prepared to help others. If you would like guidance to allow an FAA repair technician to quickly repair your control board, please contact me at 330-923-0502.
Thanks Bob Yeager
